2nd February. Arrived!

Lots of fresh snow!

All gone horribly wrong.

3rd February. The weather can change very quickly in the mountains

Fantastic morning on Mannlichen. Kids races today, about 700 competitors.

Pootled round to Scheidegg for coffee and the storm came (literally) out of the blue. Hasty retreat to the teepee.

Mountains on fire. All lifts at Scheidegg closed. Trains too.

New livery for the Euro 2008 footie. Pity the train couldn't get any higher than Wengernalp really.

Liking it mate :-)

Usual story.

****************************************************************

4th February. Scheidegg mostly closed, First 100% closed. Snow forecast.

So we all went up to Mannlichen together. Should actually have gone to Murren, but didn't think of it until at the front of the queue as usual.

And we all came down together! Bit gloomy eh?

Great snow all the way down to Grund. The additional snowmaking has really paid-off down here.

Mad panic to get back up to Scheidegg - can't imagine why - it was awful up there!

Indoor trainspotting. Started snowing at about 3.00pm.

Still snowing on the way out of the pizzeria.

Oh no.

5th February. Wake up early, more in hope than expectation.

07.20am. Hmm. No clouds, not snowing. POWDER DAY!!!!!

Mannlichen deserted. Not surprising really, we went up the gondola with the lifties.

Lauberhorn the most popular lift in the Alps this morning. Scheidegg the coldest place on the planet too.

Slalom run down to Mary's. Not sure whether it gets steeper each year or whether it's my age. Either way it's right up there with the Kanonenrohr as a means of humiliation.

Romp through the meadows at Allmend. Pistes absolutely perfect.

6th February. More rubbish weather.

Raining in Wengen, snow and high winds up the hill. Virtually no lifts open - wouldn't dream of going up even if they were. Popped down to Interlaken for a spot of shopping, and checked-out a few details for the weekend.

Back in the village there's nothing to do, so everyone just mills about. Still, it's Wednesday, which means meat buffet in the Sunstar, followed by the Lauberhorn Trio. Yay! Started snowing about 5.00pm.

Big snowstorm. View from the Park Hotel.

Nice inside though :-)

****************************************************************

7th February. Beautiful day!

A sight for sore eyes after yesterday.

Sun coming up over the mountains - it's just like spring.

Val at the Silberhornsprung.

8th February. Off to Interlaken

View from our window at the Hotel Splendid.

Turquoise sky looking down the lake at dusk.

Spice India. If Carlsberg made curry........
